It’s a challenge to have time for everything you want and need to do in this busy world. My Squirrel World is here to help with decor challenges, organization, paint consultations, meal planning, and so much more. The blog will focus on current projects as well as four main categories:
- Decorating: Despite having a BBA in Marketing, I realized that decorating was a true passion for me so I became a Certified Interior Decorator. I am the happiest when I am redecorating my home for the thousandth time or helping a client decorate a space that fits their personality. I’ll show you the projects I’m working on along with the inspiration for each one.
- Organization: Some might call me borderline OCD. Which is ironic since I haven’t always been this way. Anyway…I will share tips on how to organize your life, your home, and your office.
- DIY: Does anyone else just absolutely LOVE Pinterest? I scour the site looking for DIY projects that others have done for inspiration for my own. I’ll share with you the projects that I’m working on including some that are tailored to lil’ ones and teens.
- Hidden Treasures: So earlier I said decoration was a true passion. It’s nothing compared to shopping. Retail therapy is the best! I will share the hidden treasures that I find on my shopping trips whether it’s at a thrift store, flea market, garage sale, or retail store.
A little bit about me. My name is Shawn (the girl version). I guess squirrel is a pretty good description for me…at least according to friends and family! I’m always busy, jumping from one thing to the next. Have you ever really watched squirrels? They always seem like they’re on a mission. But they’re so quick! They run up trees like it’s no big deal, leaping from branch to branch to achieve their goal. They are survivors. They dart in and out of cars like it’s a game. Ok…enough about the squirrels…here’s more about me. I started my career in Sales at a Fortune 100 company right out of college. I have worked at the company for over a decade, taking on different roles every few years. I am currently managing a team of Sales agents. Some days I’m a mentor, some days I’m a babysitter, some days I’m a friend, and some days I’m just the evil boss! It’s an interesting roller coaster ride. I’m also a Certified Interior Decorator. I work with both residential and commercial clients. I decorate, organize, stage homes for sale, consult with clients on interior/exterior paint colors, and more. I have a lot of hobbies. I read a new book every couple of days (mostly because I have insomnia). I work on DIY projects…Pinterest is a huge inspiration! I’m very particular about my health because I battle 2 auto-immune diseases. I have to be careful to limit inflammation so I follow a gluten-free, vegan diet. It takes a lot of prep work and planning to pull it off but it’s worth it. I also workout at least 30 minutes per day. Typically 3 days of weights, 1 stretch day, 1 Pilates day, and 2 days of interval cardio. It’s a crazy busy schedule but I somehow manage to get it all done most days.
I hope you will enjoy my many adventures. I’m excited to start sharing them with you…so here goes…
